So for the last year my primary form of exercise has been running. I've done a little biking, and used some free weights occasionally, but for me it's all come down to running. I've shown a lot of improvement in that. The first time I got on a treadmill I lasted 10 minutes. Now I can go for an hour without too much difficulty (as long as something fun is on TV). I'm talking about trying to cut 25 minutes off my half-marathon time this year, and actually thinking it's a plausible goal.
On the other hand I haven't found myself doing much else as exercise. Biking can be fun, and I ride the bike to work every day, but for any long range riding conditions need to be perfect before I get out there. Swimming's a similar problem (even more so without a handy pool anymore). So for the last couple weeks I've given kickboxing a try in order to vary my workout, and it's kind of grown on me. I've signed up for a membership with the kickboxing studio I've been going to, and down the line I think I'll probably do some fight training as well (right now I'm just doing the work-outs). It's actually kind of fun, and it's a whole new school of training which will hopefully keep me on track down the line.
Food today: egg and cheese sandwich for breakfast (300 calories), PB&J for lunch (600 calories), snacks were a couple mini-peanut butter cups (100 calories) and dinner was lasagna with garlic toast (1000 calories). Exercise was an hour of kickboxing (500 calories).
