When I run it's at pretty much the same pace regardless of distance. A 5K, 10K and Half-marathon usually have essentially similar splits. Today though my friend wanted to work on speed training and sprinting, and I couldn't come up with a good reason not to <grin>. So instead of the normal 4 mile run or so we instead sprinted for 100 meter intervals and covered about a half-mile or so, with a couple short distance jogs as well (maybe another mile and a half). Sprinting does not feel nearly as fun as "regular" running. My legs got sore quickly, I didn't enjoy myself as much, and I felt like I accomplished less than I should have. On the other hand, I think I felt the same when I started doing distance running. At the very least, if we keep this up I expect I'll start getting better at it.
Food today: egg and cheese (300 calories), roast beef sandwich (500 calories), candy (250 calories), and the small portion of penne, sauce and garlic toast (700 calories). Exercise was a lunch time walk (100 calories), and the sprints and jogs after work (400 calories).
