Well as the day has worn on I'm feeling and sounding a lot better than I was yesterday. After a mediocre night last night I decided to actually use a sick day today. As such I got to sleep in, then read for a while and otherwise keep myself rested and hydrated for the day. I'm definitely feeling better, even if I didn't get to go to the gym quite yet.
Today was also a day where I was dealing with some temptations to stray off the diet. I only had an egg and cheese sandwich for breakfast (at about noon), so as the afternoon wore on I started getting hungry. The dangerous part was that I didn't notice it happening initially, I just knew that I wanted junk food to satisfy a craving. In the end I compromised with myself. I went to the supermarket and bought myself a bag of chips and the fixings for a steak and cheese sandwich. I did probably have a few too many chips for the evening, but the sandwich was really tasty. Since the alternative was a trip to get fast food, or possibly a worse offense, I'm reasonably satisfied.
I've done so well on this diet during the first two months that I think this past week has felt tougher than it needed to be. Erin pointed out as well that we both tend to be tougher on ourselves with these sorts of thing than we really need to be. I'm trying to take that advice to heart. One week with a lack of exercise and slightly increased calories isn't going to kill the diet, as long as I don't give up myself.
Food today: egg and cheese sandwich (300 calories), steak and cheese sandwich with potato chips (1500 calories...I really did eat too many chips). No exercise on the day.
