I think what I miss most on this diet is the red meat. I've had a bit here and there (including a steak I made tonight), but before the diet started I probably ate red meat every two to three days. Now that average is more like every two weeks. Hamburgers, meat sauce, meat balls, lasagna, steak, steak and cheese sandwiches, hot dogs, beef topping on pizzas, and probably other meals I'm not remembering were a significant part of my food intake. Of course, I made it worse by eating too much of all of those things and combining a lot of them with large quantities of potatoes (particularly fried potatoes). Nevertheless I miss it.
Mostly I noticed it because I've had a couple pounds of frozen ground beef in my freezer I haven't touched in a month and a half. Something tells me that when I finally pull it out of there I may not want to eat it at all. It's also seems kind of crazy to go to the supermarket and not need to buy a pound or two of beef. I'm sure it's healthier, but it still seems crazy.
Food today: egg and cheese with milk for breakfast (300 calories), a grilled cheese for lunch (600 calories), half of a brownie at work, as well as some peanuts, as snacks (200 calories total), and a steak, with noodles and green beans for dinner (1000 calories)
Exercise was 45 minutes on the treadmill (657 calories), and taking my sister's dog for a walk after dinner (100 calories). So unless I really screw up tomorrow, I should be looking at crossing the 60K mark tomorrow.
