This cold just won't die. I had to leave early from work today because of it. So the lack of exercise, plus eating a little more food than I should is making this past week extremely unproductive. I had hoped to reach 100K before the end of next week, but that's looking unlikely at the moment.
So now we get a chance to look at one of the big questions of any diet. How do you get back on track after something knocks you off. Had it just been Christmas it probably wouldn't have been a problem, I would have been at the gym or running outside and keeping the calories down a bit. The combination of both illness and Christmas has meant that I'm getting out of the habit of the diet, and that's what is the most dangerous. I'm feeling a bit better with the extra rest today, so tomorrow the plan is to hit the gym again. In addition I'll need to do a better job controlling the diet. If I can't get back on track in the next few days though, I'm running the risk of falling off altogether.
Food today: egg and cheese sandwich for breakfast (300 calories), PB&J for lunch (600 calories), penne, sauce and garlic toast for dinner (1000 calories), and various snacks including some cookies and popcorn (200 calories). No exercise again.

Hey now! Remember not to be too hard on yourself! You're sick and its been Christmas and you've STILL saved points everyday. Maybe until you can start exercising again, you should substitute soup for one meal a day.
ReplyDeleteOr just give yourself a break and get healthy! This is about long-term life changes, and the fact that you've continued to count calories and earn points throughout the holidays and a serious cold is a really really good sign!
