Over-exercising came up a couple times today. I've had a few different conversations with people about their own plans lately, and after listening to someone explain how they were cutting out a whole category of food, and exercising heavily every day I recommended against going too hardcore. That's when I realized I've been running or walking a ton 4 out of the last 6 days.
I decided to make today a rest day. My diet doesn't depend on getting exercise but those extra few hundred points help in the long term. However, I'm a little worried that if I get in the habit of working out too often I might end up getting injured. Last winter, just as I started prepping for my half-marathon, I twisted my knee. It made training much more difficult, and I'd like to avoid that if possible. Other than taking rest-days, I'm not too sure how to go about avoiding injury. Something I'll have to look into a bit more.
Food today: breakfast sandwich and milk (350 calories today as I had a little extra cheese), turkey sandwich for lunch (500 calories), penne, sauce and garlic toast for dinner (1000 calories). Snacks were an apple and a piece of cheese (150 calories combined). I went for my usual lunch time walk, but avoided the gym today (100 calories).
Today's Results:
Daily Food Total: 2000 calories
Exercise: 100
Points Earned: 1100
Total Points Earned: 43423
Points to go: 156577
Hey! Good job. On injury prevention, there is a ton of stuff on the internet, but one tip is that you should start working in some strength training into your work out regimen (maybe spring for a few sessions with a personal trainer to help design a plan). You want to make sure you're strengthening the muscles as well as burning calories. Also, a good tip is to mix up your exercises and cardio types to avoid over use of any one joint.
